Frequently Asked Questions

What are inflatable boats?

An inflatable boat is a lightweight boat constructed with its sides

and bow made of flexible tubes containing pressurized air. They are extremely safe

and stable. Because of their multiple air chambers, they are virtually unsinkable.

What kind of motors are on the boats?

We have brand new 4 stroke engines that have electric start and are fuel injected for reliability.

Our 12ft boat is equipped with a 9.9 horse power outboard, and our 14ft boat is equipped with a 15 horse power outboard.

What kind of safety equipment features are included?

Boat safety features include engine cut off lanyard, propeller guard, and all around grab handles. Boat safety equipment includes lifejackets, sound making device, fire extinguisher, and first aid kit.

What happens if there's bad weather or it rains?

We reserve the right to determine if the weather will prevent boating on any given day. Boating is a water sport and it’s natural to get a little wet. A full refund or rescheduling will be made in the event of small craft warnings on inland waters, heavy rain or high winds. Cloudy conditions or light rain will not result in a refund or a rescheduling. We do not accept cancellations based on forecasted weather. The rental is rescheduled based on marine weather forecast no earlier than 1 hour before scheduled departure.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations made 7+ days prior to a trip will be refunded 100%. Cancellations or changes made less than 7 days before a rental and no shows will not receive any refund. Cancellations are confirmed only when acknowledged by a managing member of the Montauk Dinghy Co.

Is tipping included?

Gratuity for your attendant or instructor is not included. While it is not required, it is customary to tip your attendant or instructor.

Are dogs allowed?

While we love dogs, unfortunately our furry friends have to stay on land.
